PURPLE STAINED VELLUM

PURPLE STAINED VELLUM
These are five separate
works by different students in the year-long
class in Chicago in 2015. They are all on
calfskin vellum that have been stained purple
with a medieval recipe of brazilwood dye.
Most of the images and lettering are done with
gold leaf on an acrylic base. There are some
images and lettering that are rendered in gold
or color gouache as well. They range in size
from about 3" x 8" to 5" X 9".
