Illuminated Spirit

These pieces were done in Reggie's 26 seeds class that I am taking for the second time. I first took this class ten years ago where I was first introduced to gilding. Life has never been the same!

This time around I wanted to experiment with using various types of metallic leaf in different colors. I struggled a bit with getting the variegated leaf to stick but with the use of both Instacoll and the activator, it eventually worked. For the backgrounds, I used hot pressed watercolor paper that I painted with multiple layers of watercolor to obtain a dark but slightly varied color in order to provide a contrast to the metals.
