Everest

Quote:Sir Edmund Hillary, first human to reach the pinnacle of this planet:
"We conquer ourselves, not the mountain. The misty peaks and midnight uncertainties are but reflections of an inner landscape. “

The structure of this book makes the act of reading, much like grappling with the mountain, precarious and uncertain; the line of vision ambiguous at times. A ragged ridge of pages emerges and reveals a half suspected/hoped for new vista, and beckons you to ” climb" just a little further. With what orientation? In which direction or sequence do you turn a page?

The way a story unfolds is a temporal experience. Like visual music, it entices and perplexes us with unexpected harmonies, dissonances, and counterpoints. Each page is not an isolated object. It is a layer embedded within the presence of other layers, first obscured, then revealed. We stand before what has been and what might become; a searching, thoughtful journey of discovery.

We do not want to be passive receptacles of data. We want to experience meaning, some kind of transformation in perceiving. I am asking the reader to actively live in an unpredictable moment, navigate through a labyrinth. In doing so, hopefully it will evoke a sense of wonder, of personal interactivity, and a delight in the ambiguous and dissonant resolving into resonance and harmony .
