"SHOW ME YOUR GARDEN" (17" x 32 1/2")
I started this paper collage during a week in 2011 at Lake Louise, a calligraphic retreat facility in Northern Michigan. Sadly it languished unfinished in my flat storage drawer for about seven years. Fascinated with brush letters, and the texture of overlapping gestural marks, I used a small Speedball nib to write this text with a garden theme in qouache with a variety of leafy greens. I practiced for many hours and when I was finally
happy with colors and shape, I then executed these words in my collage to complete it.
