Alphabet Geometry
One of the main reasons I wanted to study with Reggie was a chance to learn the Roman alphabet. It’s the foundation for Western letters and needs some serious
study to get good forms. And it’s a little intimidating. But Reggie has a way of teaching that breaks lessons down into bite size pieces and makes the most
challenging do-able. From his handout on the Roman Caps learning sequence:
“Always start at a point where you can give yourself the opportunity for the most success and encouragement. Don’t start with the hardest first and defeat yourself, we all need as many confidence builders as possible when
we attempt anything new.” Learning how the shape of each letter related to a circle and a straight line was key to understanding how to draw letters with design integrity confidently.
