The Night Before Christmas….

This little study piece was created as part of my homework during private sessions with Reggie online.Carolingian was the first broad edge hand I had ever studied and is a very different process than my usual pointed pen work. I found the study of Carolingian to be so rewarding. There is such a whimsical quality to the hand that I found myself writing quotes that had a touch of magic to them.

This piece was created on 140 lb Arches Hot Press Watercolour paper. The paper size is 11 1/2” x 5”. I did the lettering with Permanent Sap Green Watercolour. The mouse is painted with watercolors and gilded with 23K gold leaf. Although this piece demonstrates that I have so much more to learn about this beautiful hand, it brings me joy as I reflect on the study times with Reggie.
