Session 1:

The lower case alphabet will be presented. We will proceed at a rate that is comfortable to the individual student. We will start with a 2mm nib. Refer to the Nib Equivalent Chart to see which nib that is in the brand you like best. You may want to use a nib that has a reservoir like Brause, Tape, or Speedball. We will begin writing on a grid pad made for calligraphy. Students will begin to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.

Session 2:

We will transition into smaller nib sizes concentrating on maintaining a high standard of letterforms at these demanding, smaller sizes. Students will experience how to modify their individual nibs to perform better. A short quote will be assigned. Students will continue to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.

Session 3:

Students will begin writing longer texts. Emphasis on developing spacing and rhythm will  begin. Writing on good calligraphy papers will become a priority, as well as  writing fluids other than inks from a bottle. Upper case letterforms will be introduced. Students will continue to learn how to self correct and positively critique their work.

Session 4:

Students will do a finished piece. We will review all questions of letterforms and materials and refine their uses. Students will independently be able to self correct and positively critique their work.

Because all of these courses are personal lessons, we will proceed  at the singular pace that is comfortable for you. The course description is simply an outline to suggest a series of goals individuals may want to arrive at.
